Most of my clients have worked very hard all their lives. As I meet with them to work on financial and tax related matters, it often becomes evident something is missing. They realize that they have financial security. They support many charitable efforts, but have not yet experienced the personal rewards of active, thoughtful and engaged philanthropy.

At this point I become proactive. It is my hope that I can successfully help them understand how the service of the Coastal Community Foundation will impact their lives as much as those who benefit directly from their philanthropy.

When I am successful, I have a long term client. I have added value to their family lives beyond any tax planning I can do for them. Once the thought of engaged philanthropy has been understood, I go on to explain how the services of CCF can add value to their charitable dollars through the expertise and knowledge of the staff. Many of my referrals to CCF are very wealthy. However, I am quick to point out to anyone interested that the personal rewards of engaged philanthropy are available to everyone with the desire to give back.

I was a member of the Rotary Club of Charleston when it provided the $9,000 seed funding for the Coastal Community Foundation (originally named – Trident Community Foundation). Later on, our firm became a founding donor to the Foundation and its Acorn Fund. Over time and having various opportunities to work with the Foundation, I came to trust and respect the ability and dedication of the volunteers and staff who are CCF.

Over the years we have had the good fortune to work with clients who consider giving back to the community an important part of their lives. Our clients have different goals and ideas of what they want to do in that regard and we know that CCF likely has the ability and flexibility to meet their needs. Almost without exception, we recommend that they consider CCF and we often set up and go with them to the initial meeting, which normally has a positive result.

We have never been disappointed with the performance of CCF and our clients who have established funds are all happy with their experiences and are proud to be associated with CCF.
