Scholarship Funds
A good life begins with a good education
Through a scholarship fund, you help students pursue academic goals in high school or college. In doing so, you enrich their lives and ultimately their entire community. For large funds, CCF staff will work with you to establish criteria and then manage the application process from start to finish. Whenever possible, it is preferable that the school determine which student is most qualified to receive a particular scholarship. Many CCF scholarship funds are created in honor of loved ones or someone beloved in the academic community. You may name your fund or give anonymously.
You may contribute to your scholarship at any time receiving the maximum tax benefit allowable with each new gift.
Donor Story
Personal Connection
Rufus Barkley was a Renaissance man with interests that ranged from opera and ballroom dancing to neighborhood “pick-up” football and bush-whacking on his Colleton County property. His son, Miles, summed it up – “If I can be half the person he was, I’ll be alright.”
Just before Rufus died of Lou Gherig’s disease in 2001, his friends, family and business colleagues at the family-run Cameron and Barkley Company started a scholarship fund to honor him. Since then, The Rufus C. Barkley, Jr. Leadership Scholarship has provided five talented student leaders with $5,000 every year for four years to go to college and be inspired to emulate the integrity, compassion and vitality of this “genuine” man. (Below, Rufus is surrounded by his adoring family in December of 2000.) |
