Welcome to Our Nonprofit Partners
Your dedication, service and work in our community enriches the lives of the people of the Lowcountry every day.
Without you, our donors would have nowhere to direct their generous gifts. Because of you, donors who care about education, community/neighborhood development, health, the environment, human needs and the arts can give back through their funds at CCF to support your important work.
We have been proud to work with nonprofit organizations of all kinds for 33 years and have awarded a total of $57 million in grants to a range of programs throughout the eight counties we serve (and beyond) - Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton and Jasper.
Many of you have not only received grants from us over the years, but you have created your own funds to ensure that your work will continue. Designated Funds and Organization Endowments are the two ways that you have strengthened your good work.
Starting a Nonprofit Organization
Unfortunately, CCF is not able to provide "seed" funding to help create nonprofit organizations. The majority of our grantmaking is recommended by our individual donors and our competitive grant dollars support existing programs.
CCF's Grantmaking
Of CCF's grants, the vast majority (roughly 80%) comes from funds that do not accept grant requests. These are grants recommended by the donors themselves, either when when they first create their Fund, or over time.
The remaining 20% of our grantmaking results from funding applications submitted to us, including:
- Grants targeting certain geographic areas or certain fields of interest such as the arts, neighborhood groups, or Jewish causes.
- Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation, an Affiliate Organization of CCF, serves Georgetown County in charitable areas addressing the FPBF's mission (amounts vary by funding program).
- Open Grants serves Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties in all charitable areas (1x annually - $10,000 max.).
- The Beaufort Fund serves Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties in all charitable areas (1x annually - $15,000 max.)
-
Grants open to those who are specifically invited to apply
- Scholarships Funds, defined by each separate fund
