Core Services and Fees

As a CFF donor, you will have access to the full array of CCF professional services whether your gift is $10,000 or $10 million.

Services
Fund Design
When you want to create a named fund, we will help design the fund agreement to fulfill your charitable interests and wishes.

Gift Planning Assistance
CCF will assist you and your financial and legal advisors in determining your most effective method of giving. We will provide you with detailed information on gift vehicles and preliminary estimates of benefits and charitable deductions. When requested we will also work with endowed non-profit organizations to help you with your gift to them.

Investment and Financial Management

CCF financial management strategy balances the need for current grantmaking resources while safeguarding assets for the future. Currently we offer three different investment pools. Most assets are invested in mutual funds with low expense ratios. CCF provides regular reports on all investment and grant-making activity. Quarterly Fund Statements are mailed to all fund holders.  We also file all necessary IRS report and conduct an annual audit of all CCF funds.

Charitable Advisory Services
We know the community’s needs and the capabilities of local nonprofits. Working with CCF, you can become as personally involved with your giving as you wish.  Your increased knowledge of area non-profits will make your giving informed and effective.

Grantmaking and Evaluation Services
CCF handles all inquiries from potential grantees, contributors and the public, and manages the application processes and fund disbursements for you as directed by your fund agreement. Every effort is made to ensure that grant recipients are reputable and their services beneficial to the community.

Gift Acknowledgement
CCF provides gift acceptance services including gift acknowledgment cards. When a gift is made in honor or in memory of another individual, CCF will notify the family or honoree (or provide acknowledgment cards for gifts under $25).

Fees

Generally, fees for endowed funds are determined as follows:

1.00% annually for the first $1 million
.75% annually for the next $4 million
.50% annually for amounts over $5 million

There is a minimum annual fee of either $250 (Endowed Funds) or $500 (Partially Endowed Funds)

Typical fees and fund balance minimums for endowed funds are shown below. Fees for partially endowed and non-endowed funds vary. Further, there are three levels of grantmaking services available for funds. All funds receive a basic level of service, and they may request additional services, which may require a higher fee. Please call CCF to discuss these options.

Type of fund Minimum fund size Other fees
Unrestricted and Field of Interest Funds $10K
Donor Advised Funds $10K
Scholarship Funds $15K
Designated Funds $15K
Organized Endowments $25K $500 administrative fee in the 1st year

Endowment-in-Progress:
The minimum gift to start any fund is $2,000, and you may take five years to build the endowment. The fee is 1% until the fund is fully endowed.

Non-endowed Funds:
Non-endowed funds may provide for withdrawal of 100% of the contributions to your fund. The fee is 3% of the fund balance with a minimum of $500.

Trusteeships:
If you choose to establish a trust, your trust will be responsible for paying all investment management and professional fees. CCF will supply you with fee estimates. CCF will not assess a trust an administrative fee if 100% of the remainder is designated for funds at CCF, or if the portion left to CCF is unrestricted. For all other situations, CCF charges an annual fee of .5% of the average trust balance. Fees are calculated quarterly.

Special Services for Advising or Providing Technical Assistant Can Be Arranged
Additional services designed to meet your specific initiatives may be provided for a predetermined fee. CCF asks that the cost of providing extraordinary services be a component of your gift so that we can keep the fee for core services lower. All additional services must be approved by the board. CCF staff is available at any time to discuss your particular situation with you.

Ruby Pendergrass Cornwell was an icon of right-thinking and right-doing throughout her life.  She proudly admitted thst she always "raised quiet, refined hell" about prejudice and injustice long before the Civil Rights Movement.

One day In 1963, she entered the Fort Sumter Hotel in downtown Charleston, dressed in her Sunday finest, and demanded to be seated in the "whites-only" restaurant. In her hat and gloves, she was handcuffed and taken away.

In her honor, The LINKS of Charleston created a scholarship for students pursuing art, which she loved.
