Endowments…the gift that keeps on giving

Do you care about a particular community issue?

Anne Marie Kathryn White did. She cared about the needs of children, so she decided to leave a bequest in her will to CCF to create a fund to respond to those needs.

But Ms. White was wise enough to realize that specific charities come and go, so she made her fund a “field-of-interest” fund, which allows CCF to direct her charitable giving each year to the best organizations doing work in the “field” she cared most about.

Because Ms. White endowed her fund, it is still giving today and will forever. Here’s how that works:
  • In 1992, her bequest of $131,000 created the Anne Marie Kathryn White Fund.
  • Today, that fund is worth $244,000 and has awarded $130,000 in grants to organizations known to her and new in the field.

When Ms. White wrote her will, she may not have known what her bequest would mean to her community and especially to the children living in it.

She simply cared enough to plan for the needs of others. She truly embodies the idea that you plant a tree knowing that others will benefit from its shade long after you are gone.
