Bonnie Smith, Executive Director of the Colleton County Arts Council (CCAC), spends her time introducing eager kids to the arts. They can pick up a paintbrush or take a cello lesson; sit down at a keyboard; throw clay or lace up toe shoes. Whatever they choose, CCAC is ready to assist. Whether producing Tom Sawyer as part of the Colleton Children’s Theater series, or presenting zydeco master, Terrance Simien at the Rice Festival, or mounting the “Lowcountry Juried Art Exhibition” at the Bedon-Lucas House and St. Jude’s Episcopal Church, the CCAC inspires both young and old to revel in the arts.

A grant from the Beaufort Fund has provided support for CCAC projects in Walterboro and beyond. Other Colleton County organizations supported by CCF and its donors include the Colleton County Historic and Preservation Society, the Boys’ & Girls’ Club and the Colleton County Literacy Council.
