Charitable Society of Charleston
Mission: To support and benefit charities by raising funds and promoting volunteerism in a spirit of fellowship and camaraderie.
Often, great ideas start with small acts of kindness. In 1993, a group of young, professional friends decided to collect toys and canned food for needy families. When they realized the depth of the need of these families, they wanted to do more and the Charitable Society of Charleston was formed.
Since then the membership has donated more than $400,000 to area charities – without an office or a single employee!
Their grantmaking supports organizations serving:
- underprivileged children, the elderly and individuals with special needs and
- community wellness through:
- MUSC Children’s Hospital
- Windwood Farm Home for Children
- Franke Home Assisted Living
- Crisis Ministries
- Communities in Schools
- East Cooper Community Outreach
- From Darkness to Light.
In 1998, The Charitable Society created an endowed fund at CCF to ensure that their charitable giving would continue and grow over the years.
To celebrate its 10th Anniversary, the membership increased that endowed fund to $100,000!
To find out how you can contribute to this good work, contact CCF at (843) 723-3635 and join in the fun and funding!
