Who We Are?

The nonprofit grantmaking organization in the Lowcountry that fosters philanthropy for the lasting good of the community by helping individual, family, and business donors connect with their community through te establishment of charitable endowments. We serve the eight coastal counties of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton and Jasper.

What We Do?

We connect donors in the Lowcountry with the full spectrum of charitable and nonprofit organizations in their communities. From arts or health-related organizations to education programming, conserving the environment, strengthening neighborhoods or satisfying human needs, nonprofit organizations benefit from the connection that we provide between them and our donors. 

We provide responsible financial management and personalized service.  Donors can be comfortable knowing that their grant dollars will have a lasting impact while eliminating bias and minimizing donor risk. 

Our goal is to ensure that donors feel good about giving back!

Quick Facts :

• Began in 1974 with $9,000 from The Rotary Club of Charleston to serve the tri-county area.
• Today we manage over $148 million in combined assets held in more than 470 individual funds that serve thousands of donors and support hundreds of charitable organizations working in education, conservation/preservation, environment, neighborhood/community development, and basic human needs, as well as scholarships, teacher mini-grants and artist grants.
• Have helped provide resources and technical assistance to establish independent charitable groups including Crisis Ministries, Youth Service Charleston, and the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation
• Have partnered with others to identify community issues and to help address them – Wando Huger Community Fund and Lowcountry Conservation Loan Fund.
